Question
Can we just fill the tank in place and not remove it?
YES! However it is more expensive to abandon the tank in place instead of removing it. If the tank is leaking, it has to be removed anyway.
Tank/Property Surveys
If you’re not sure where your underground storage tank is, we have the equipment and expertise to locate it. If you are selling the house and the home inspector has found evidence of a buried oil tank, Call GreenTRAX, Inc. We can inspect the property and write a report of our findings.
Tank Assessments
We will be able to come and check the underground tank and we can determine the size of the tank, the orientation and how long it is (where the ends of the tank are). We can determine if the tank is under an Air Conditioner unit or sidewalk. We can determine how much liquid product is in the tank and if there is any water in the tank(which could possibly indicate a leak).
Tank Location Services
Having trouble finding your tank? Is the tank Fill pipe and or vent pipe Missing? Our team of highly trained professionals will locate it for you. We can also take the time to find the perfect spot to place your new tank whether that be aboveground or underground.
Vent Pipe/Whistle Repair & Replacement
Has your oil company told you they will no longer fill the tank due to a Non-functioning whistle vent? Call GreenTRAX, Inc. and we can help you determine if it will be cost effective & worth fixing this problem or if it is more cost effective to remove and replace the heating oil tank. If the whistle/vent does need replacing we can assist you with this.
Tank Testing & Soil Sampling/Testing
Depending on the age of your underground tank a tank test may be a good option for you, however if your tank is over 20 years old we do not recommend a tank test. Call us for more information.
If you need to have the tank checked, we would recommend a soil sample. We can perform a soil sample and auger down next to the tank and check the soil below the tank. We can then check the soil with a PID Meter and also have the soil analyzed at the lab. That way we can assess if the tank has leaked and there is contaminated soil.
Oil Pump Out & Oil Transfers
Getting a new tank installed doesn’t have to mean losing all of your current oil, we will transfer all of the good oil into your new tank. There will always be sludge in the bottom of your old tank, so we will haul that away and properly dispose of that for you. If you are getting rid of your old tank, have water in your tank or some other problem with the oil in your current tank we will come and pump that out for you and haul away for proper disposal.
